Auf der
Suche nach einer Lösung meines Bankenproblems streckte ich meine Fühler in alle
Richtungen aus: Ich kontaktierte Freunde aus aller Welt und bat um Hilfe…
vielleicht wusste jemand oder jemand den sie kennen, wie ich als Nomadin ein
Bankkonto erhalten? – Vielen Dank an dieser Stelle an alle, die mir Unterstützung
baten, vor allem John, der akribisch das Internet absuchte… und Daniela, die
mir den Kontakt einer gemeinsamen Schulfreundin gab. Silvia, mit der ich vor 40
Jahren 4 Jahre die Schulbank drückte, war nicht nur im Bankwesen tätig, sondern
verbringt ihre Winter in Dubai! – Wenn das nicht sein musste?! Ich kontaktierte
sie, sie schrieb gleich zurück und wir verabredeten uns für Montag Abend…
In search of a solution to my banking problem, I reached out in all directions: I contacted friends from all over the world and asked for help... maybe someone or someone they know knew how to get a bank account as a nomad? – Many thanks at this point to everyone who gave me support, especially John, who meticulously searched the Internet… and Daniela, who gave me the contact of a mutual school friend. Silvia, with whom I went to school for 4 years 40 years ago, not only worked in banking, but also spends her winters in Dubai! – If this was not meant to be?! I contacted her, she immediately replied and we arranged to meet on Monday evening...

Wir trafen
uns in ihrer Wohnung im 29. Stock am andern Ende der Dubai Marina. Ein ganz tolles
Wiedersehen und es war, als hätten wir uns erst gestern das letzte Mal gesehen…
nur waren 10 Jahre seit unserer letzten Begegnung an einem Klassentreffen vergangen
und sie ist wie ich sehr viel bereist mit einem immerzu wachsenden Horizont! :
) Ich erzählte, was mir passiert war und fand heraus, dass sie erstens
frühzeitig in Pension getreten war, und wie alle andern bestätigte sie, dass man
ohne Wohnsitz kaum ein Bankkonto eröffnen kann.
We met in her apartment on the 29th floor at the other end of Dubai Marina. A truely great reunion and it was as if we had only seen each other yesterday... but 10 years had passed since our last meeting at a class reunion and, like me, she has travelled a lot and has an ever-expanding horizon! : ) I explained what had happened to me and found out that, firstly she had retired early and, like everyone else, she confirmed that it is almost impossible to open a bank account without a place of residence.

Unser Treffen
war so energetisch und ich fühlte mich so wohl meine Zeit mit einer
Gleichgesinnten zu verbringen, dass ich mein Problem für eine Weile auf die Seite
legen konnte und mit ihr einen wundervollen Abend im Tamoka des Ritz Carlton (https://www.tamokadubai.com) an der Jumeirah Beach verbrachte! : )
Our meeting was so energetic and I felt so comfortable spending my time with a like-minded person, that I was able to put my problem aside for a while to enjoy a wonderful evening at Tamoka of the Ritz Carlton (https://www.tamokadubai.com) on Jumeirah Beach! : )

nächsten Tag verarbeitete ich unseren Austausch beim Jogging und Schwimmen am
Jumeirah Beach… Auf dem Rückweg liess ich meinen Körper von Maya vom Go
Pastimes mit einer Thai Massage strecken, das Tiefengewebe massieren und mit Öl
einbalsamieren…
The next day I processed our exchange while going for a run and swimming on Jumeirah Beach... On the way back I had a deep tissue massage, my body stretched and embalmed with oil by Maya’s Thai Massage at Go Pastimes...

Meine
zweite alte Bekanntschaft war der Ibn Battuta Mall – mein absolutes Lieblingseinkaufszentrum
in Dubai! Ich durchwanderte nochmals die atemberaubenden Hallen und kaufte das Nötigste
ein.
