Am Samstag Nachmittag kam Manoj zu mir, wir packten
alles ins Auto und kauften das, was fehlte ein: viel Wasser. Dann fuhren wir
los: eine Stunde und 50 km Richtung Arabische Wüste zu den Al Qudra Lakes. Diese
künstlich angelegten Seen sind ein Mekka für Camper, wo ich endlich mein Zelt von
Decathlon (https://decathlon.ae) ausprobieren wollte! Manoj ist sehr spontan und für vieles zu haben,
aber halt nur am Wochenende, da er Montag bis Freitag als Öl- und Gaseinkäufer arbeitet.
On Saturday afternoon Manoj came to me, we packed everything into the car and bought what was missing: lots of water. Then we set off: an hour and 50 km towards the Arabian Desert to the Al Qudra Lakes. These man-made lakes are a mecca for campers, where I finally wanted to try out my tent from Decathlon (https://decathlon.ae)! Manoj is very spontaneous and up for a lot of things, but only on weekends, as he works Monday to Friday as an oil and gas buyer.

Es hatte ziemlich Leute und auch Zelte als wir
ankamen… wir suchten einen schönen freien Platz aus, den wir am hübschen
Flamingo Lake fanden – wie der Name schon sagt, war der See voller Flamingos! :
) Manoj stellte das Zelt im Nu auf – es war bedeutend einfacher als mein
2-Sekunden Zelt, das in meinem Auto in Irland auf mich wartet! So schnell, dass
wir uns auf eine Rundfahrt um all die Seen machten…
There were quite a few people and tents when we arrived... we picked a nice free spot, which we found at the pretty Flamingo Lake - as the name suggests, the lake was full of flamingos! : ) Manoj set up the tent in no time - it was significantly easier than my 2-second tent, which is waiting for me in my car in Ireland! So quickly that we set off on a tour around all the lakes...

Als wir zurückkamen, hatten unsere Nachbarn aus
Libanon uns ein Apero bereit: Pouletspiesse – wow, sooo nett! : ) Zum
Abendessen hatte ich Pasta, Parmesan und eine Arrabbiatasauce im Glas dabei… da
mein Gaskocher nur eine Herdplatte besitzt, stellte ich das Glas mit den
Teigwaren ins kochende Wasser. Während alles garte, fragten unsere andern
Nachbarn, pakistanische Vlogger, um ein Interview – war das lustig! : )
When we returned, our neighbours from Lebanon had an aperitif ready for us: chicken skewers - wow, sooo nice! : ) For dinner I had pasta, parmesan and an arrabbiata sauce in a jar... since my gas cooker only has one burner, I put the jar with the pasta in the boiling water. While everything was cooking, our other neighbours, Pakistani vloggers, asked for an interview - that was fun! : )

Trotz Partys und Musik aus allen Richtungen,
schliefen wir kurz nach 21 Uhr ein und waren dementsprechend früh um 6 Uhr vor
Sonnenaufgang wach. Wir genossen die Ruhe am Morgen mit Kaffee, Tee und einem
fantastischen Sonnenaufgang – die Sonne zeigte sich so rot wie am Vorabend! : )
Während Manoj mein Auto vom Wüstensand befreite, bereitete ich unser Frühstück
zu, wieder etwas Einfaches, das in einer Pfanne gekocht werden konnte: Rühreier
mit Champignons, Zwiebeln, Knoblauch und Tomaten – lecker!
Despite the parties and music from all directions, we fell asleep shortly after 9 pm and were awake accordingly early at 6 am before sunrise. We enjoyed the peace and quiet in the morning with coffee, tea and a fantastic sunrise - the sun was as red as the night before! : ) While Manoj cleaned the desert sand from my car, I prepared our breakfast, again something simple that could be cooked in one pan: scrambled eggs with mushrooms, onions, garlic and tomatoes - yummie!

Ganz in der Nähe der Qudra Seen befindet sich
Endurance City, wo Langstreckenrennen mit Pferden stattfinden. Heute war leider
kein Rennen auf dem Programm, dafür die Vorbereitungen für den 30. November… Auf
dem Rückweg zeigte ich Manoj die Oryx Plattform und den Expo Lake im Al Marmoom
Naturschutzgebiet, die ich vor 10 Tagen bereits besucht hatte – heute am
Nachmittag war es zu heiss für die Oryx Antilopen, die sich irgendwo im
Schatten versteckten…
Very close to the Qudra Lakes Endurance City is situated, where long-distance horse races take place. Unfortunately, there was no race on the programme today, but preparations for November 30th... On the way back I showed Manoj the Oryx platform and the Expo Lake in the Al Marmoom conservation reserve, which I had visited 10 days ago - this afternoon it was too hot for the Oryx antelopes, who were hiding somewhere in the shade…

Unseren tollen Ausflug beendeten wir, wo wir ihn
beim Einkaufen begonnen hatten: im wunderschönen Al Battuta Mall. Wir besiegelten
das gelungene Wochenende im Zelt mit einem Cappuccino bei Starbucks: Danke
Manoj – das Leben ist schön mit guten Freunden! : ))

We ended our great trip where we started it with shopping: in the
beautiful Al Battuta Mall. We rounded off the successful weekend in the tent
with a cappuccino at Starbucks: Thank you Manoj – life is wonderful with good
friends! : ))
