Jebel Ali ist der kommerzielle Hafen von Dubai, wo die grössten Supertanker dieser Erde andocken können - die Drehscheibe für den Nahost Handel. Die Gemeinde Jebel Ali wurde 1977 als Unterkunft für die vielen Bauarbeiter gebaut, heute ist es eine der beliebtesten Wohngemeinden Dubais mit allen Annehmlichkeiten sogar mit eigenem Flughafen... Discovery Gardens ist ein Teil davon...

Jebel Ali is Dubai's commercial harbour, where the world's largest supertankers can dock - the hub for Middle East trade. The community of Jebel Ali was built in 1977 as an accommodation for the many construction workers, today it is one of Dubai's most popular residential communities with all amenities even with its own airport... Discovery Gardens is part of it...

Neben dem riesigen Hafen liegt der öffentliche Strand Jebel Ali Beach. Es ist eine Bucht mit Zugang zur neu aufgeschütteten Palme Nahlat Jebel Ali, wo gerade die Strasse in Bau ist. Das war diese Woche mein Ziel – nur gerade eine knappe halbe Stunde von Discovery Gardens entfernt.

Next to the huge harbour there is the public Jebel Ali Beach. It is a bay with access to the newly built palm Nahlat Jebel Ali, where the road is currently under construction. That was my destination this week - just under half an hour from Discovery Gardens.

ich bevorzuge immer noch den Kleinen mit mehr Platz / I still prefer the little one with more space! ; ), Jebel Ali Beach

Zuerst genoss ich das Meer und die Sonne am fast menschenleeren flach abfallenden Strand… Dann ging ich auf einen Entdeckungsspaziergang der Bucht entlang: Ich ging am Campingplatz oberhalb des Strandes vorbei und als ich den Zaun weit ab vom Meer passierte, hörte ich schon eine Wache trillern! Ich ignorierte und spazierte einfach weiter, bis ich nach einer halben Stunde eh nicht mehr weiterkam und umdrehen musste. Unterwegs fand ich grosse Katzenspuren und eine Höhle… sehr wahrscheinlich von einer Sandkatze! : )

First, I enjoyed the sea and the sun on the almost deserted, gently sloping beach... Then I went on a discovery walk along the bay: I passed the campsite above the beach and as I passed the fence far from the sea, I could already hear a guard whistle! I ignored it and just carried on walking until, after half an hour, I couldn't get any further anyway and had to return. On the way, I found large cat traces and a cave… most probably made by a sand cat! : )

Nach meinen 2 Tagen in der Wüste in Ras al Khaymah hatte ich ein grosses Bedürfnis den Sand aus all meinen Poren zu entfernen… Ich fand den Natural Touch Beauty Salon (https://sites.google.com/view/natural-touch-beauty-salon/home) in Discovery Gardens, die ein marokkanisches Bad anbieten – genau das, was ich brauchte: Rosi schrubbte mir wie in Marokko im Dampfbad die Haut glatt, ich erhielt eine Gesichtslifting Massage von Neru und Sabah wusch und trocknete mir die Haare. Sauber wie schon lange nicht mehr und sie neu verliess ich den Salon! : )

After my 2 days in the desert in Ras al Khaymah, I felt a big urge to remove the sand from all my pores... I found Natural Touch Beauty Salon (https://sites.google.com/view/natural-touch-beautysalon/home) in Discovery Gardens, which offers a Moroccan bath - exactly what I needed: Rosi scrubbed my skin smooth in the steam bath like in Morocco, I received a face lifting massage from Neru and Sabah washed and dried my hair. I left the salon looking cleaner than I had in a long time and as new! : )

Weihnachten ist in Dubai zum Glück ganz normal und alle Geschäfte sind wie immer offen - ausser dass ein paar Lichter mehr glitzern und einige Geschäfte weihnachtlich dekoriert sind… Hier leben zu viele Nationen um auf jeden Feiertag Rücksicht zu nehmen! Für mich sind Weihnachten eh Tage wie alle andere und ich sehe sie nur als kommerziellen Anlass… Geschenke gebe ich bei passenden Gelegenheiten, egal ob Weihnachten oder Geburtstag, und am liebsten schenke ich Zeit! Nach meiner Meinung sollte man jeden Tag Aufmerksamkeit schenken und sich Zeit für unsere Liebsten nehmen...

Luckily, Christmas is completely normal in Dubai and all the shops are open as always - except that a few more lights glitter and some shops are decorated for Christmas... Too many nations live here to take every holiday important! For me, Christmas are days like any other and I only see it as a commercial event... I give gifts on appropriate occasions, whether it's Christmas or a birthday, and I prefer to give time! In my opinion, every day we should give attention and take time for our loved ones...

Ich beschäftigte mich mit meinem üblichen Programm: Arabisch mit Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com), Arbeiten an meinem Blog, Morgen- oder Abend Yoga mit Kassandra (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX32D3gKXENrhOXdZjWWtMA), Meditation sowie Jogging und Schwimmen. Aber ich bemerkte, dass es noch viel mehr Leute in Dubai hatte als sonst: Der Strand von Jumeirah war packend voll!

I kept myself busy with my usual programme: Arabic with Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com), working on my blog, morning or evening yoga with Kassandra (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX32D3gKXENrhOXdZjWWtMA), meditation as well as jogging and swimming. But I noticed that there were a lot more people in Dubai than usual: Jumeirah beach was packed!

Ich genoss ein leckeres Essen zuhause mit Manoj und besuchte das Habib Beirut (https://habibbeirut.com) in der Dubai Marina mit Saqib für ein libanesisches Abendessen mit anschliessendem Verdauungsspaziergang.

I enjoyed a delicious meal at home with Manoj and visited Habib Beirut (https://habibbeirut.com) in Dubai Marina with Saqib for a Lebanese dinner followed by a digestive walk.
