Bevor es
zum Jebel Jais (1934 m) ging, brachte ich meine zerbrochene Sonnenfahrbrille
zum Optiker WAFI Opticals: Sanoop testete meine Augen und sagte, ich könne
meine Brille mit korrigierten Gläsern in 2 Stunden abholen! Da ich aber schon
etwas vorhatte, würde ich am Abend auf meiner Rückfahrt vorbeikommen… Dann ging
es endlich in die Berge! Das Wetter war nicht gerade, wie ich es bestellt
hatte, aber das kann sich ja noch ändern!?
Before heading to Jebel Jais (1934 m), I took my broken sunglasses for driving to the optician WAFI Opticals: Sanoop tested my eyes and said I could pick up my glasses with corrected lenses in 2 hours! But as I already had a plan, I would stop by in the evening on my way back... Then I finally drove to the mountains! The weather wasn't exactly how I had ordered, but that could still change!?

1 ½ Stunden
und 50 km später stand ich vor dem 1484 by Puro Restaurant auf 1484 m Höhe, wo
meine Seilrutschtour Jais Sky Tour (https://visitjebeljais.com/adrenaline/jais-sky-tour)
startete. Hier befindet sich übrigens mit 2,8 km das längste Drahtseil der
Welt. Es war 15 Grad kälter hier oben und ich bekleidete mich mit meinen mitgebrachten
2 lange Hosen und 3 Jacken - eigentlich alle warmen Kleider, die ich dabeihatte!
Ich wurde von einem Angestellten abgefangen, der mir zweimal klar sagte, dass
Telefone nicht erlaubt sind, ausser man trägt Jacken- oder Hosentaschen mit
Reissverschluss… Ich konnte es nicht glauben: Da erhält man beim Buchen online
3 Seiten Information und muss sogar unterschreiben – aber kein Wort von diesen
Reissverschlusstaschen! Ich war echt enttäuscht, dass ich keine Fotos machen
konnte und mietete eine Helmkamera, obschon ich kein Fan von Videos und Filmen bin…
Um 15 Uhr stiegen wir in einen Bus, der uns zur ersten Plattform der 2-stündigen Jais Sky Tour führte: eine herrliche Aussicht und 6 Seile zwischen 337 m und 1'068 m erwarteten uns. Auch das Wetter hatte sich zu unseren Gunsten geändert und zeigte für 2 Stunden seine blaue Seite! Zum Glück gab uns der Führer Ameen sein Telefon, damit wir wenigsten ein paar Fotos machen konnten… und einige Teilnehmer waren mutiger als ich und hatten ihr Handy trotzdem dabei und teilten ihre Fotos später - so habe ich doch noch ein paar Erinnerungen von dieser tollen Tour, die ich hier teilen kann! : ) Als ich am Abend das Helmvideo herunterlud, hatte meine Enttäuschung den Zenit erreicht: Ausser Händen und flatternde Ärmel war nichts zu sehen! Ich teilte meine Enttäuschung den Verantwortlichen mit und schrieb, dass es doch keine bessere Werbung als echte Fotos von Teilnehmern gibt?! : (
1 ½ hours and 50 kilometres later, I was standing in front of the 1484 by Puro restaurant at 1484 m altitude, where my Jais Sky Tour zip line tour (https://visitjebeljais.com/adrenaline/jais-sky-tour) started. By the way, here there is also with 2.8 kilometres the longest zip line in the world. It was 15 centigrade colder up here and I dressed up with 2 long trousers and 3 jackets I had brought with me - actually all the warm clothes I had with me! I was intercepted by an employee who told me twice very clearly that phones were not allowed unless you wear a jacket or trouser with zipped pockets... I couldn't believe it: When you book online you get 3 pages of information and you even have to sign it - but there was not one word about these zipped pockets! I was really disappointed that I couldn't take any photos and rented a helmet camera, even though I'm not a fan of videos and films...
At 3 pm we boarded a bus that took us to the first platform of the 2-hours Jais Sky Tour: A magnificent view and 6 ropes between 337 m and 1,068 m awaited us. The weather had changed to our favour and showed its blue side for 2 hours! Luckily, the tour guide Ameen gave us his phone, so that we could at least take a few photos… and some participants were more courageous than me and had their mobile phones with them to share their photos later on - consequently I have a few memories of this great tour that I can share here! : ) When I downloaded the helmet video in the evening, my disappointment had reached its zenith: Apart from hands and flapping sleeves, there was nothing to see! I forwarded my disappointment to the organisers and wrote that there is no better advertisement than real photos of participants! : (

Eigentlich
will ich Gutes und Schönes verbreiten und nicht in Negativem verweilen - auch
mit meinem Blog! Mit meinen Fotos halte ich das Schöne fest und kann es do in
meinen Blogs verbreiten... Wenn mich etwas stört, dann melde ich es immer
direkt an die es angeht, das machte ich auch in diesem Fall. Nur hat es mich
und auch alle andern Teilnehmer dermassen geärgert, dass wir unser Telefon und
somit Kamera nicht mitnehmen konnten -
ich musste es einfach hier platzieren! Auch damit diese 2-stündige Tour
für andere nicht von dieser Enttäuschung überschattet wird: Man muss halt
einfach Verbotenes tun und sein Handy einfach mitnehmen!
I actually want to spread good and beautiful things and not dwell on the
negative - in my blog too! With my photos I capture the beauty and can spread
it in my blogs... If something bothers me, I always report it directly to the
person concerned, which is what I did also in this case. It just annoyed me and
all the other participants that much that we couldn't take our phone and thus
camera with us - I just had to put it here! Also so that this 2-hours' tour is
not overshadowed by this disappointment for others: You just have to do what is
forbidden and simply take your phone with you!

Auf dem
Rückweg holte ich bei Sunitha von WAFI Opticals meine Brille mit neuen Gläsern
ab und fuhr zum Corniche der Stadt Ras Al Khaymah für einen Spaziergang… Ich verspürte
ein Hüngerchen, wusste aber nicht worauf ich Lust hatte, bis ich das Luluat
Bahriy (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550088955137)
entdeckte: Sam aus Alexandria hatte genau das Richtige für mich auf seinem Speiseplan:
Jumbo Garnelen, frittierte Aubergine, Hummus, Baba Ganoush und Pommes –
mmmhhhhh! : )

On the way back, I picked up my glasses with new lenses from Sunitha at
WAFI Opticals and drove to the Corniche of Ras Al Khaymah Town for a walk... I felt a bit
hungry, but didn't know what I wanted until I discovered Luluat Bahriy (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61550088955137):
Sam from Alexandria had just the right dish for me on his menu: Jumbo prawns,
deep-fried eggplant, hummus, baba ganoush and chips - mmmhhhhh! : )
