Sich
zurechtfinden auf dem riesigen und oft komplizierten Strassennetz in Dubai ist nicht
immer einfach... vor allem bei viel Verkehr... und das nicht mal mit dem
Navisystem Waze (https://www.waze.com), das übrigens von Israeli
entwickelt wurde und bald an Google überging. Während dem Fahren muss man auf
so vieles achten: den Verkehr ringsum, die Fahrtgeschwindigkeit, die Verkehrszeichen
und -schilder, das Navi mit vielen Informationen… Zudem hatte ich keine
wirkliche Hilfe meines sonst guten Copiloten Manoj: Er war seit 2 Wochen über
beide Ohren verliebt und nur noch am Telefon... Ich freue mich riesig für ihn -
aber am Chatten ohne Pause?! Anantha, der seine geschäftliche Pflicht in Dubai
beendet hatte, wohnte jetzt ein paar Tage bei Manoj und war als Tourist auf dem
Hintersitz entschuldigt... ; )
Finding your way around the huge and often complicated road network in Dubai is not always easy... especially when there is a lot of traffic... and not even with the navigation system Waze (https://www.waze.com), which was developed by Israeli start-up team and soon was passed on to Google. While driving you have to pay attention to so many things: traffic around you, travel speed, traffic and road signs, the navigation system with lots of information... In addition, I didn't have any real help from my otherwise good co-pilot Manoj: He is head over heels in love for two weeks now and nothing but on the phone... I'm very happy for him - but chatting without a break?! Anantha, who had finished his business duties in Dubai, was now staying with Manoj for a few days and was excused as a tourist in the back seat... ; )

Wir
benötigten sage und schreibe 1 1/2 Stunden für 30 km und anzukommen: Wir fanden
die einzige Zufahrt zum Parkhaus einfach nicht - 3 verschiedene Navisysteme machten
es nur noch schwieriger und zeigten verschiedene Wege – ausserdem war es einmal
gross beschildert und dann wieder nicht - zum Verzweifeln!!!
It took us a whopping 1 1/2 hours to cover 30 km and arriving at the mall: We simply couldn't find the only entrance to the car park – not even with 3 different navigation systems, which made it more complicated and showed different routes - plus once it was signed out and then again not - it was exasperating!!!

Als wir
dann einmal im Dubai Mall waren, genossen wir es... Wir verbrachten fast 4
Stunden im gigantischen Einkaufszentrum sowie mit den fantastischen Wassershows
vor dem Burj Khalifa, die ab 18 Uhr alle halbe Stunde mit anderer Musik
stattfinden – wir bestaunten das Wasser Musik und Licht Spektakel gleich zwei
Mal! : )
Once we were in Dubai Mall, we enjoyed it... We spent almost 4 hours in the gigantic shopping centre and with the fantastic fountain shows in front of the Burj Khalifa, which take place every half hour from 6 pm with different music - we marvelled at the water music and light spectacle twice! : )

Auf der Rückfahrt nach Discovery Gardens machten wir Halt im Milan Veg (https://www.facebook.com/milanvegrestaurant) in Al Karama und genossen ein absolut köstliches vegetarisches Abendessen. Danach begleitete ich die Jungs zum Elektronikmekka... und Handel mit Luxusartikel zu Schnäppchenpreisen – als ich etwas mehr nachfragte, erhielt ich die Antwort: ein bisschen gefälscht und Fotos verboten…

On the way back to Discovery Gardens we stopped at Milan Veg (https://www.facebook.com/milanvegrestaurant) in Al Karama and enjoyed an absolutely delicious vegetarian dinner. Afterwards I accompanied the boys to the electronics mecca... and trade in luxury items at bargain prices - when I asked a little more, I got the answer: a little bit fake and photos forbidden...
