Meine wunderschöne und abwechslungsreiche Woche in Nizwa war zu Ende und
heute stand meine Weiterreise auf dem Programm: idealerweise 900 km nach
Salalah, ganz im Südwesten von Oman an der Grenze zu Yemen, oder dann halt so
weit wie ich komme! Wie meistens war ich früh wach und meine Koffer waren fast
reisefertig... Ich genoss mein letztes Frühstück im Nizwa Residence Hotel
Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/nizwaresidence?mibextid=ZbWKwL), verabschiedete mich von Abdu
Hamid und seinem netten Personal und sass um 10 Uhr im Auto Richtung Süden...
My wonderful and varied week in Nizwa was over and today my onward journey was on the programme: ideally 900 km to Salalah, in the very southwest of Oman on the border with Yemen, or then just as far as I can get! As usual, I was up early and my suitcases were almost ready packed... I enjoyed my last breakfast at the Nizwa Residence Hotel Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/nizwaresidence?mibextid=ZbWKwL), said goodbye to Abdu Hamid and his nice staff and was sitting in the car heading south at 10 am...

Ich war
echt froh um meinen komfortablen Mazda6 von Orbit Car Rental (https://orbit-oman.com) mit Tempomat und gutem Sound
System, das mir die lange eher eintönige Fahrt erheblich erleichterte. : ) Bald schon beherrschten
Brauntöne und Sand die Landschaft - soweit das Auge reichte und das Thermometer stieg auf
35 Grad!
I was really happy about my comfortable Mazda6 from Orbit Car Rental (https://orbit-oman.com) with cruise control and a good sound system, which made the long, rather monotonous journey much easier. : ) Soon brown tones and sand dominated the landscape - as far as the eye could see and the thermometer rose to 35 degrees!

Nach 3 1/2
Stunden und 400 km Fahrt befand ich mich plötzlich in einem Ort:
Haima. Obschon es in regelmässigen Abständen Tankstellen gibt, entschied ich
hier das Auto mit Benzin und mich mit einem Cappuccino aufzufüllen - ideal,
gegenüber der Tankstelle war das Luxery Coffee. : )
After 3 1/2 hours and 400 km of driving, I suddenly found myself in a town: Haima. Although there are gas stations at regular intervals, I decided to fill up the car with gas and myself with a cappuccino here - ideal, the Luxery Coffee was opposite the gas station. : )

Danach
ging es nochmals 400 km gleich eintönig weiter, bis der
Sonnenuntergang und die Qara Berge 100 km vor Salalah eine willkommene
Veränderung der Kulisse brachten. Die letzten 100 km waren spannend: Im
Dämmerlicht durch Hügel und Berge dann steil abwärts dem Lichtermeer von
Salalah entgegen. Die Stadt war deutlich gewachsen in 15 Jahren, das erkannte
ich als erstes!
Afterwards I continued monotonously for another 400 km until the sunset and the Qara mountains 100 km before Salalah brought a welcome change to the scenery. The last 100 km were exciting: in the twilight through hills and mountains then steeply down towards the sea of lights of Salalah. The city had grown significantly in 15 years, that was the first thing I noticed!

Ich kaufte
unterwegs das Nötigste ein und fuhr dann schnurstracks an den Strand von
Dahariz zum Al Mansoor Grand Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/p/Al-Mansoor-International-Development-100068046113740/?paipv=0&eav=AfYuuLs5JrphX1IdNzTStxMDP66wkhAlPjwiuNfOEI_ECdGxmlQJBny8n98GedriXgY&_rdr), wo ich für 1 Monat eine Wohnung
gemietet hatte. Shoman empfing mich und ich durfte aus 2 Wohnungen
wählen - ich entschied mich für die im höheren 2. Stock… Ich stellte meine Siebensachen
ins 2. Schlafzimmer und konnte nicht warten, bis ich todmüde
aber glücklich ins Bett fallen konnte...

for 1 month. Shoman welcomed me and I could choose from 2 apartments - I chose
the one on the higher 2nd floor... I put my belongings in the 2nd bedroom and
couldn't to fall into bed, dead tired but happy...
