Am
Mittwoch war es endlich soweit: Mein ursprünglicher Plan mit der Fähre
weiterzureisen wurde endlich Realität... zwar fast eine Woche später als
gedacht und mit einem fehlerhaften omanischen Visum… aber die Fähre war für heute
bestätigt! : )
Packen
musste ich nicht mehr viel, da ich letzten Samstag nur das Allernötigste ausgepackt hatte. Um 9:45 Uhr
stand Shan von Silver Jarz Travel & Tourism (https://www.silverjarz.com) diesmal pünktlich vor der Tür, ich gab ihm das
Mietauto zurück und er fuhr mich zum Hafen. Eine
Stunde vorher musste man einchecken und sich mit dem Pass im Mwasalat Büro (https://www.nfconline.om/NFCLive) präsentieren.
On Wednesday my original plan to continue traveling by ferry finally became reality... almost a week later than expected and with a faulty Omani visa... but the ferry was confirmed for today! : )
I didn't have to pack much anymore because I only unpacked the bare essentials last Saturday. At 9:45 am Shan from Silver Jarz Travel & Tourism (https://www.silverjarz.com) was at the door punctually this time, I gave him back the rental car and he drove me to the port. Check-in time was one hour beforehand and everyone had to present himself with his passport at the Mwasalat office (https://www.nfconline.om/NFCLive).

Um 11 Uhr
legte die Fähre in Khasab ab und startete die 6-stündige Fahrt um die
nördlichste Spitze der Enklave Musandam nach Shinas. Die Fahrt war alles andere
als langweilig: Ich hatte viel Austausch mit anderen Passagieren und fast immer
Internet um zu arbeiten – und das alles mit herrlicher Aussicht sowie
Essen und Getränke inklusive! : )
At 11 am the ferry departed Khasab and began the 6-hour journey around the northernmost tip of the Musandam enclave to Shinas. The journey was anything but boring: I had a lot of interaction with other passengers and almost always good internet to work - and all of this with a wonderful view as well as food and drinks included! : )

Wir erreichten Shinas um 17 Uhr kamen, wo ich im Internet keine
Übernachtungsmöglichkeiten gefunden hatte... aber
einen Mwsalat Bus (https://mwasalat.om) zum nächstgrösseren Ort
Sohar. Dort hatte ich für einige Tage ein Hotel am Strand und einen Mietwagen für 1-2 Monate gebucht… Um 17:30 Uhr fuhr Super-Rashid
los dem Sonnenuntergang entgegen nach Sohar, wo sich das Mwsalat Büro neben
Orbit Car Rental (https://orbit-oman.com) befand - was für ein
Zufall... oder doch ein Wink des Schicksals?
We reached Shinas at 5 pm, where I hadn't found any accommodation options online... but I found a Mwsalat bus (https://mwasalat.om) to the nearest larger town Sohar. There I also booked a hotel on the beach for a few days and a rental car for 1-2 months... At 5:30 pm Super-Rashid drove off towards the sunset and Sohar, where the Mwsalat office is next to Orbit Car Rental (https://orbit-oman.com) - what a coincidence... or a hint of fate?

parkte meinen Mazda6 neben den Bus um meine 3 1/2 Koffer im grossen Kofferraum
zu verstauen. Dann trafen wir Anthony um die Ecke
um das Administrative zu erledigen. Die beiden erklärten mir das ganze
Auto, dass es Niederlassungen von Orbit auch in Muscat und Salalah gibt und sogar den kürzesten Weg zum
Hotel unter der Schnellstrasse durch! : )
Jyothis parked my Mazda6 next to the bus to stow my 3 1/2 suitcases in the large trunk. Then we met Anthony around the corner to take care of the administrative stuff. The two explained to me all the details of the car, that there are Orbit branches in Muscat and Salalah and even the shortest route to the hotel passing under the highway! : )

Uhr checkte ich für 3 Nächte im Marina Hotel (https://marinasoharhotel.business.site) am Strand von Sohar ein. Ich
richtete mich ein, kaufte in den benachbarten Läden das Nötigste ein und fiel
todmüde aber glücklich ins Bett…

on Sohar Beach for 3 nights. I settled in, bought the essentials in the neighbouring
shops and fell into bed dead tired but happy…
