Heute Morgen holte mich Shan von Silver Jarz Travel & Tourism
(https://www.silverjarz.com) fast
pünktlich mit einem brandneuem chinesischen Alsvin ab. Ich
fuhr ihn zurück zu seinem Büro und machte mich auf zum Khasab Polizei Department um den Systemfehler meines Passes zu korrigieren und mein Visum zu verlängern – deshalb
hatte ich schliesslich das Auto gemietet! Dort angekommen, erklärte mein
Problem verschiedenen Beamten, eine Lösung schien aber schwieriger zu sein als gedacht: Der
Fehler konnte im neuen System korrigiert werden, jedoch nicht im alten! : (
This morning Shan from Silver Jarz Travel & Tourism (https://www.silverjarz.com) picked me up almost on time with a brand new Chinese Alsvin. I drove him back to his office and headed to the Khasab Police Department to correct the system error of my passport and extend my visa - that's why I rented the car after all! Once there, I explained my problem to various officers, but a solution seemed to be more difficult than expected: The error could be corrected in the new system, but not in the old one! : (

Nach etwas mehr als eine Stunde Warten, meldete sich mein Hunger, und Ahmed,
der gut Englisch spricht, gab mir seine Telefonnummer und bot sich als Helfer
an… er würde mir Bescheid geben, wenn es Neuigkeiten gibt… Da ich schon mal ein
Auto hatte, beschloss ich eine Runde durch Musandam zu drehen. Mein erster Halt
galt dem Abu Maktoum Restaurant in Dal al Ala, wo mein
Magen erst mal Beruhigung kriegte! Danach fuhr ich zum Al Khalidiya Acacia Park, wo die
Strasse endet.
After waiting for a little more than an hour, I was hungry and Ahmed, who speaks good English, gave me his phone number and offered his assistance... he would let me know if there was any news... Since I already had a car, I decided to take a drive around Musandam. My first stop was the Abu Maktoum Restaurant in Dal al Ala, where my stomach finally could calmed down! Afterwards I drove to Al Khalidiya Acacia Park, where the road ends.

Ahmed rief mich an, dass er jetzt auf der Polizeistation in der Stadt Khasab sei und ich kommen soll. Bis ich dort war und das richtige Gebäude gefunden hatte, war es 14 Uhr und alle Beamten waren auf dem Weg nach Hause – auch Ahmed. Ich fuhr zur Fähre um mich zu erkundigen, ob die Fähre morgen nach Shinas fährt – und endlich eine erfreuliche Nachricht: Sie war bestätigt! Ich bezahlte mein Ticket und beschloss die restlichen befahrbaren Strassen in Musandam unter die Räder zu nehmen…
Diese führten mich 45 km zur Grenze. Dort liess ich mein Auto stehen und ging zu Fuss zum Zoll. Die Polizisten dort kannten mich und ich sie nach zweimaliger Einreise und ich erklärte auch ihnen, was passiert ist… und dass es wichtig ist, alles nachzukontrollieren! Auf meinem Marsch zurück zum Auto, lud mich ein Beamter auf und sagte mir, dass ich hier nicht einfach herumspazieren könne – so musste ich auch ihm von meinem falschen Visum erzählen! Ich hatte nun alles in meiner Macht getan und wollte nur noch die wunderschöne wilde Küste geniessen!
Ahmed called me that he was now at the police station in town of Khasab and that I should come. By the time I got there and found the right building, it was 2 pm and all the officers were on their way home - including Ahmed. I drove to the ferry to find out if the ferry was going to Shinas tomorrow - and finally got some good news: It was confirmed! I paid for my ticket and decided to explore the remaining motorable roads in Musandam…
These took me 45 km to the border. I left my car a bit outside and walked to the customs. The police officers there knew me and I knew them after entering the country twice from there and I also explained to them what had happened... and that it was very important to doublecheck everything! On my walk back to the car, an officer picked me up and told me that I couldn't just walk around here - consequently I had to tell him about my fake visa too! Now that I had done everything in my power, I just wanted to enjoy the beautiful, wild coast!

Auf dem Rückweg hielt ich im La Tasty Cafe in Makhi für
einen Cappuccino und machte Bekanntschaft mit den freundlichen Azhar und Duraid. Im
Gespräch fand ich heraus, dass sie soeben aus Nizwa angereist waren, wegen
wichtiger Arbeit aber sofort wieder zurückfahren mussten. Als ich fragte, welch
wichtigen Beruf sie denn haben, war die Antwort: Polizisten der Spezialeinheit –
wenn ich nun nicht alle Polizisten in Oman kenne!? ; )
On the way back I stopped at La Tasty Cafe in Makhi for a cappuccino and met friendly Azhar and Duraid. During the conversation I found out that they had just arrived from Nizwa but had to go back immediately because of important work. When I asked what important job they have, the answer was: police officers of special force - if I don't know all the police officers in Oman now!? ; )

Nach einem letzten Abendessen im Mazahbi al Yaman
verabschiedete ich mich von meinen Freunden in Khasab. Und als ich zurück ins Al
Hama Hotel Apartments (+968-9204 0665) kam,
wartete Shabeer schon auf mich und brachte seine ganze Familie um sich von mir
zu verabschieden – ich werde alle vermissen!

After a final dinner at Mazahbi al Yaman, I said goodbye to my friends
in Khasab. And when I got back to Al Hama Hotel Apartments (+968-9204 0665), Shabeer was waiting for me and
brought his whole family to say goodbye to me - I will miss them all!
