Wie versprochen meldete sich Mohammed heute Morgen und teilte mir mit,
dass ich heute mit auf den Wüstenausflug kommen kann: Die beiden Italiener hätten
nichts dagegen! : )
As promised, Mohammed contacted me this morning and told me that I could join on the desert trip today: The two Italians wouldn't mind! : )

Um 13:30 Uhr holte mich Mohammed von Arabian Seasons (www.arabianseasons.com) ab. Er wohnte ebenfalls
im Al Mansoor Grand Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/p/Al-Mansoor-International-Development-100068046113740/?paipv=0&eav=AfYuuLs5JrphX1IdNzTStxMDP66wkhAlPjwiuNfOEI_ECdGxmlQJBny8n98GedriXgY&rdr). In der
Stadt luden wir eine halbe Stunde später Marco und Giuseppe auf und los ging es 120 km Richtung Rub al Khali, was übersetzt leere Gegend heisst…
Mohammed from Arabian Seasons (www.arabianseasons.com) picked me up at 1:30 pm. He was also living in Al Mansoor Grand Apartments (https://www.facebook.com/p/Al-Mansoor-International-Development-100068046113740/?paipv=0&eav=AfYuuLs5JrphX1IdNzTStxMDP66wkhAlPjwiuNfOEI_ECdGxmlQJBny8n98GedriXgY&rdr). Half an hour later in the city we picked up Marco and Giuseppe and off we drove 120 km towards Rub al Khali, which translates to Empty Quarter...

Es war ein wunderschöner Tag und wir hatte sooo viel Spass – die Chemie
mit den intelligenten und viel interessierten Marco und Giuseppe stimmte von
der ersten Sekunde an! Ich habe 2 neue Freunde gefunden, aber von Mohammed war
ich sehr enttäuscht… ich kann daher Ausflüge mit Mohammed und seiner Arabian
Seasons nicht weiterempfehlen, denn er ist alles andere als professionell und nicht
transparent, was Preise angeht: Unterwegs hielten wir zwar bei den
Weihrauchbäumen im Wadi Dawkah und in Shisr bei der Archäologische Ausgrabung Uber an,
aber Mohammed erzählte uns weder etwas darüber, noch stieg er aus seinem Auto. Nach
nochmaliger Nachfrage nach der Bedeutung von Uber, gab er uns die Information,
dass es eine bedeutende Raststelle während des Weihrauchhandel um 3000
v. Chr. war.
Als ich ihn nach dem Preis des Ausfluges fragte, sagte er nur: Mach dir
keine Sorgen… und als ich ihn dann in Anwesenheit von Marco und Giuseppe nochmals
darüber ansprach, kam heraus, dass er zusätzlich zum vereinbarten Tagespreis mt
den beiden, für mich nochmals die Hälfte draufschlug! Zudem mussten wir den
Eintritt zu Uber selber bezahlen! : (
It was a wonderful day and we had sooo much fun - the chemistry with the intelligent and very interested Marco and Giuseppe was right from the first second! I made 2 new friends, but I was very disappointed about Mohammed... therefore I cannot recommend trips with Mohammed and his Arabian Seasons, because he is anything but professional and not transparent when it comes to prices: On the way we stopped at the Frankincense trees in Wadi Dawkah and in Shisr at the Uber archaeological excavation, but Mohammed neither explained us anything about it nor got out of his car. After asking once again about the significance of Uber, he gave us the information, that it was an important rest stop during the incense trade around 3000 BC.
When I had inquired about the price of the excursion, he just said: Don't worry... and when I asked him again in the presence of Marco and Giuseppe, it turned out that he added half of the price agreed with them for me! In addition we had to pay the entrance fee to Uber ourselves! : (

Ich war froh, als wir bei den Sanddünen angekommen waren, wo wir 1 ½ Stunden
verweilten. Ich begab mich sogleich auf die Dünen in die Stille der Wüste… Wie
schön – hier kann man alles fliessen lassen! Aber wir waren nicht die Einzigen
hier: Auf den Sanddünen nebenan waren Karawanen von Jeeps, die auf den
Sonnenuntergang warteten um danach die Dünen hinunter zu düsen…
I was happy when we arrived at the sand dunes, where we stayed for 1 ½ hours. I immediately went up the dunes into the silence of the desert... How beautiful - here you can let go everything! But we weren't the only ones here: There were caravans of jeeps on the sand dunes next to us, waiting for the sunset to then dash down the dunes...

Auf dem Rückweg meldete sich bei allen ein Hüngerchen und wir fragen
Mohammed, ob er unterwegs ein typisch omanisches Restaurant zum Abendessen kenne?
Er hielt im Chaima Medina in Thumrait an, wo
wir zuerst die Küche inspizierten um sicher zu gehen, ob wir hier essen wollen…
Meine neuen Freunde versuchten zum ersten Mal Kamelfleisch und waren
begeistert, wie ich! Mohammed übernahm freundlicherweise die Zeche - sehr
wahrscheinlich hatte er ein schlechtes Gewissen!? Als ich ihn bei unserer
Rückkehr nochmal auf den unfairen Preis ansprach, sagte er nur: Aber ich habe doch
das Essen übernommen! – Wenigstens das: Ein Tropfen auf dem heissen Stein im
Vergleich zu dem, was wir ihm bezahlten!

On the way back everyone felt hungrily and we asked Mohammed if he knew
a typical Omani restaurant for dinner on the way back? He stopped at Chaima
Medina in Thumrait, where we first inspected the kitchen to make sure if we
wanted to eat there... My new friends tried camel meat for the first time and
loved it, as did I! Mohammed kindly took over the bill - he probably had a bad
conscience!? When we were back home, I talked to him again about the unfair
price and he just said: But I took over the food! – At least that: A drop in
the ocean compared to what we paid him!
