Dieses
Wochenende wollten Praveen und ich in der Wüste verbringen… nach dem
Mittagessen ging es los: 80 km zum vereinbarten Treffpunk in der Arabischen Wüste.
Mit Praveen als Privatchauffer (er hat vor 2 Wochen den Emirati Führerschein
gemacht) war das Fahren genial: Er konnte üben und ich Fotos schiessen, zudem war es für mich ideal zum Angewöhnen an die
Strassensituationen hier in Dubai und wieder auf der rechten Seite zu fahren
nach Irland…
Praveen and I wanted to spend this weekend in the desert... after lunch we set off: 80 km to the agreed meeting point in the Arabian Desert. With Praveen as a private chauffeur (he got his Emirati driving license 2 weeks ago) driving was brilliant: He was able to practice and I could take photos, and in addition it was also ideal for me to get used to the road situations here in Dubai and to drive on the right side after Ireland…

Wir hatten
viel Zeit im Internet verbracht nach der Suche eines geeigneten Angebotes – die
variieren hier in Dubai von sehr teuer bis OK – schlussendlich buchten wir mit Desert
King (https://www.desertkingtourism.com).
Etwas vor 17 Uhr erreichten wir den Park- und Abholplatz von Desert King und
vielen anderen Anbietern. Eine kurze verrückte Fahrt über die Dünen führte uns zum
Camp, wo wir erst mal einen Tisch aussuchten und unser Gepäck deponierten. Dann
ging es auf einen gaaanz kurzen Kamelritt – eigentlich nur für Fotos! Das
Abendessen und die Show hingegen waren super. Um 22 Uhr wurden die Zelte für
die Nachtgäste aufgestellt und ein Lagerfeuerchen entzündet… Es war noch zu
früh und die immer klarer werdende Nacht (Lichter wurden gelöscht) zu einladend
um sich hinzulegen… so trafen wir die beiden Emirates Flugbegleiter Deimante
& Moaweya, mit denen wir Reisegeschichten austauschten, bis die Augen
zufielen. : )
We spent a lot of time online looking for a suitable offer - here in Dubai they vary from very expensive to OK - finally we booked with Desert King (https://www.desertkingtourism.com). A little before 5 pm we reached the parking and pick-up area of Desert King and many other providers. A short, crazy drive over the dunes took us to the camp, where we first chose a table and deposed our luggage. Then we went on a veeery short camel ride – actually just for photos! However, dinner and the show were great. At 10 pm the tents were set up for the night guests and a tiny bonfire was lit... It was still too early and the increasingly clear night (lights were turned off) was too inviting to go to sleep... that’s how we met the two Emirates flight attendants Deimante & Moaweya, with whom we exchanged travel stories until our eyes were too tired to be kept open. : )

Am folgenden
Morgen stand ein simples Frühstück bereit, wir tranken nur etwas Tee und nahmen
den nächsten 4x4 zu meinem heiss geliebten Kia Picanto von Hertz (https://www.hertz.ae). Fazit unseres Wüstenausfluges:
Absolut touristisch – überall hier in Dubai sagt Praveen, der bereits Erfahrung
hatte… Das bin ich mir düberhaupt nicht gewohnt von meinen zahlreichen
Wüstentrips in die Westarabischen Wüste (https://franziskaaeschbach9.blogspot.com/2014/01/02012014-shaab-salaa.html
und https://franziskaaeschbach20.blogspot.com/2018/12/15-16122018-westarabische-wuste.html)
und in die Sahara (https://franziskaaeschbach4.blogspot.com/2013/01/03012013-mhamid-el-ghizlane-ouarzazate.html)!
The next morning a simple breakfast was ready, we just had some tea and took the next 4x4 to my beloved Kia Picanto from Hertz (https://www.hertz.ae). Conclusion of our desert trip: Absolutely touristy - everywhere here in Dubai says Praveen, who already had experience... I'm not used to that at all from my numerous desert trips to the Western Arabian Desert (https://franziskaaeschbach9.blogspot.com/2014/01/02012014 -shaab-salaa.html and https://franziskaaeschbach20.blogspot.com/2018/12/15-16122018-westbaren-wuste.html) and to the Sahara (https://franziskaaeschbach4.blogspot.com/2013/01/03012013- mhamid-el-ghizlane-ouarzazate.html)!

Praveen
fuhr uns souverän zurück nach Discovery Garden, wo wir erst einmal ein
ausgiebiges Frühstück im Karandi's (https://www.facebook.com/Karandisdiscoverygardens)
genossen. Am Abend kam Praveens Freund Manoj zum Abendessen - Praveen wollte
sicher gehen, dass ich einen Freund in der Umgebung habe, wenn er nach Indien
reisen wird! : ) Das herrliche Wochenende liessen wir mit einem Spaziergang um
die Marina Dubai ausklingen… : )

Praveen confidently drove us back to Discovery Garden, where we first
enjoyed a hearty breakfast at Karandi's (https://www.facebook.com/Karandisdiscoverygardens).
In the evening, Praveen's friend Manoj came for dinner - Praveen wanted to make
sure I had a friend in the area when he was going to India! : ) We ended the
wonderful weekend with a walk around the Dubai Marina… : )
