Zum
Beispiel gibt es das Waze App (https://www.waze.com),
das speziell für den gigantischen Verkehr auf den mehrspurigen Strassen (bis 8
pro Seite hab ich gezählt!) und die komplizierten Verkehrsknoten in Dubai kreiert
wurde. Waze funktioniert auch offline (wie mein geliebtes maps.me) und zeigt
genau an, auf welchen Spuren man fahren muss um ans Ziel zu kommen! : ) Das
Strassensystem stammt sehr wahrscheinlich von den Amerikanern - Ähnliches habe
ich vor 40 Jahren in Los Angeles gesehen: Beim Wechseln der Strassen muss man
unglaublich aufpassen, denn dieselbe Spur wird auch als Auffahrt benutzt! Und
U-Turns sind allgegenwärtig - das hab ich schon ewig nicht mehr gesehen...
For example the Waze app (https://www.waze.com), which was created specifically for the gigantic traffic on the multi-lane roads (I counted up to 8 per side!) and the complicated traffic junctions in Dubai. Waze also works offline (like my beloved maps.me) and shows exactly which lanes you have to drive on to get to your destination! : ) The road system most likely comes from the Americans - I saw something similar 40 years ago in Los Angeles: You have to be incredibly careful when changing roads, because the same lane is also used as a driveway! And U-turns are everywhere - I haven't seen that in ages...

Das RTA App
(https://www.rta.ae) kann man mit Geld laden
und zum Parkgebühren bezahlen benutzen: Es erkennt die Nummer der Parkstrasse
und wenn mal das Nummernschild des Autos eingegeben hat, muss man nur noch die
Parkdauer antippen - 10 Minuten bevor sie abläuft, erhält man eine Nachricht
und kann einfach aufzahlen, wenn man den Parkplatz länger benötigt! : )
The RTA app (https://www.rta.ae) can be topped up with money and used to pay parking fees: It recognizes the number of the parking street and once you have entered the license plate of the car, all you have to do is tap the parking duration - 10 Minutes before it expires, you will receive a message and can simply pay extra if you need the parking space for longer! : )

einigen Strecken fällt Maut an - das geht hier in Dubai mit Salik
vollautomatisch mit Radiofrequenz Identifikation! Ohne lästige Zahlstellen, die
nicht nur den Verkehrsfluss unterbrechen sondern auch hässlich und eine grosse
Verschwendung von allem sind... Ende Monat erhalte ich von Hertz (https://www.hertz.ae) eine detaillierte Rechnung -
auch von den Bussen... Übrigens für zu schnell fahren gilt in Dubai gilt eine Toleranz von 20 km/h - in Abu Dhabi sollte man hingegen nicht schneller fahren als die Verkehrsschilder anzeigen! Bussen kann man im Dubai Police App (https://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/wps/portal/home)

There are tolls on some routes - here in Dubai this works fully automatically by radio frequency identification with Salik! Without annoying toll booths, which not only interrupt the flow of traffic but are also ugly and a huge waste of everything... At the end of the month I receive a detailed invoice from Hertz (https://www.hertz.ae) - including the fines... By the way, in Dubai there is a buffer of 20 km/h for driving too fast - but in Abu Dhabi you shouldn't drive more than the traffic signs indicate! You can check your fines with the Dubai Police app (https://www.dubaipolice.gov.ae/wps/portal/home)...

- endlich etwas Verbotenes! ; ) Whatsapp Anrufe funktionieren aus kriminellen
Gründen nicht in den Emiraten, aber jeder umgeht dies mit einem VPN = virtual
private network... es erstellt einen Tunnel, der blockierte Server umgeht und
den Zugriff über verschlüsselte Kommunikation ermöglicht... Ich will doch nur
ab und zu meine Tochter Melanie und meine Enkelinnen Hanna und Aline sehen und
sprechen - ist das kriminell??? Zudem ist es ein altes Gesetz, das 2016 erlassen wurde… Alles
verändert sich kontinuierlich! ; )

In addition it's an old law from 2016… Everything changes constantly! ; )

das ist fast wie in Europa ein Fahrrad mieten: Die Autos stehen fast überall
bereit und man kann sie tageweise für ca. EUR 25 mieten – ein intelligentes
Carsharing (hab leider keine deutsche Übersetzung gefunden!): Super, wenn man
das Auto nicht täglich braucht und vor allem, wenn man kein so tolles Angebot
wie ich mit Hertz habe! : )
Praveen uses the ekar app (https://ekar.app/ae/en/carshare), which is almost like renting a bike in Europe: The cars are available almost everywhere and you can rent them by day for around EUR 25 - a clever way of car sharing: Great, if you don't need the car every day and surely, if you don't have such a great offer as I have with Hertz! : )

Aber
eigentlich bevorzuge ich das echte Leben mit der Natur und den paar echten
Menschen, die es noch gibt! So dachte ich mir eine Arabischschule hier in Dubai
zu suchen… die gibt es zahlreich und sogar gratis, nur beginnen die nächsten
Kurse erst Mitte/Ende Januar 2024! Somit bleibt mir nichts anderes als
weiterhin mit Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com) Arabisch zu üben...

But actually I prefer real life with nature and the few real people that
still exist! So I thought to look for an Arabic school here in Dubai... there
are plenty of them and they're even free, but the next courses won't start
until mid/end of January 2024! Consequently I have no choice but to continue
practicing Arabic with Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com)...
