Am Montag
gegen Abend machte ich mich auf nach Bur, der Altstadt von Dubai. Ich hatte
einiges zu erledigen und parkierte in der Nähe von Oman Air (https://www.omanair.com), die seit 2020
eine Rechnung mit mir offen haben: Seit März 2020, als wegen der Panik des
Corona Virus mein Rückflug von Goa über Muskat nach Zürich annulliert wurde, kämpfe ich mit Oman Air um eine Entschädigung… aber die haben es leider
nicht nötig sich um ihre Passagiere zu kümmern, so erhielt ich nur automatische
Antworten auf meine e-mails, die ich nicht mal verstand! Da es ein Büro in Dubai
gibt, ging ich mal vorbei… Der nette Mwafaq nahm sich mir an, sammelte all
meine Daten und reichte sie an seine Vorgesetzten weiter…
On Monday evening I set off to Bur, the old town of Dubai. I had a lot of things on my list and parked near Oman Air (https://www.omanair.com), with whom I still have an open bill since 2020: My return flight from Goa via Muscat to Zurich was cancelled in March 2020 due to the panic of the Corona virus and since then I've been fighting with Oman Air for compensation... but unfortunately they don't have to care about their passengers, consequently I only received automatic replies to my e-mails, which I never understood! Since there is an office in Dubai, I went by... Friendly Mwafaq took care of me, collected all my data and passed it on to his superiors...

Im
nächsten Gebäude, im Al Khaleej Center, fand ich Najmat von Almeena Electronics,
der mir ein JBL Flip 6 für einen guten Preis verkaufte – ich habe zwar schon
einen, werde aber einen Praveen überlassen
für seine Grosszügigkeit seine Wohnung benutzen zu dürfen! : )
In the next building, in Al Khaleej Center, I found Najmat from Almeena Electronics, who sold me a JBL Flip 6 for a good price - I already have one but will leave one for Praveen as a thank for his generosity to use his apartment! : )

Dann ging
es auf die Suche nach einer Nachttischlampe und ich spazierte zu Fuss nach Al
Seef. Al Seef ist eine 1.8 km lange hübsche Promenade entlang dem Dubai Creek mit
vielen Geschäften und Restaurants. Hier war ich schon mal und wollte mehr Zeit
verbringen… aber zuerst plagte mich der Hunger und ich genoss einen Seebarsch
im Tent Jumeirah (https://www.facebook.com/TentJumeirah).
Danach war ich fit für Verhandlungen und das war notwendig, denn die meisten Verkäufer
versuchten ihr Glück mit dreifach hohen Preisen bei Touristen! Nachdem ich alle
Geschäfte ausgekundschaftet hatte, entschied ich mir meine Lampe bei King
Fashion zu kaufen… ersten machten die lustigen Angestellten von Anfang an
normale Preise und zweitens waren sie immer noch am Aufbauen nach ihrer Neueröffnung
vor 2 Tagen und ich wollte ihnen etwas Glück bringen...
Then I went on search for a bedside lamp and walked to Al Seef. Al Seef is a 1.8 km long pretty promenade along Dubai Creek with many shops and restaurants. I've been here before and wanted to spend more time... but first I was hungry and enjoyed a sea bass at Tent Jumeirah (https://www.facebook.com/TentJumeirah). Thereafter I was ready to negotiate and that was necessary because most of the sellers tried their luck with tourists by asking prices three times as high! After having checked out all the shops, I decided to buy my lamp at King Fashion... firstly, the fun employees offered normal prices from the beginning and secondly, they were still setting up after their opening 2 days ago and I wanted to bring them some luck...

Glücklich
vieles erledigt zu haben und gut ausgeruht genoss ich den folgenden Tag zuhause
in Discovery Gardens. Ich nahm mir viel Zeit um Arabisch mit Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com) zu üben und meine e-mails zu
beantworten. Darunter war auch eines von Mwafaq von Oman Air… Leider erhielt
ich die Nachricht, dass eine Entschädigung verjährt sei – aber so schnell hatte
ich von Oman Air noch nie eine Antwort erhalten! Kein Wunder war es verjährt,
wenn ich jeweils mehr als einen Monat auf eine automatische Antwort gewartet
hatte!!! Dabei wäre ich schon glücklich gewesen über einen Flug von Dubai nach
Muskat/Salalah und zurück als Kompensation. : (

Happy to have completed a lot of things and well rested, I enjoyed the
following day at home in Discovery Gardens. I took a lot of time to practice
Arabic with Duolingo (https://www.duolingo.com)
and answer my emails. Among them one was from Mwafaq from Oman Air...
Unfortunately, I received the message that compensation had expired - but never before had I received a response so quickly from Oman Air! - No wonder it was expired
when I had to wait more than a month for an automatic response!!! I would have
been happy with a return flight from Dubai to Muscat/Salalah as a compensation. : (
