Bevor ich Ende Woche meine Fahrt zurück
Richtung Norden antreten
werde, waren noch einige Vorbereitungen zu treffen: Mein Omani Visum
verlängern und ein VAE Visum
beantragen... Zum Glück
ist die Polizei hier in Oman sehr hilfsbereit und nett! Ich
wurde auf der Immigrationspolizei Auqad superschnell bedient: Ahmed
korrigierte im Nu den letzten Fehler in meinem Visum und Mazen verlängerte es
um einen Monat für OMR 25 (EUR
60). Ich liess bei dieser Gelegenheit auch
gleich eine Passbeglaubigung
anfertigen – Mazen wusste zwar nicht genau was das ist, aber er bestätigte mit
Stempel, dass mein Visum in Oman bis am 17.4.2024 gültig ist! : )
Before I start my journey back north at the end of the week, there were still a few preparations to be done: extending my Omani visa and apply for a UAE visa... Luckily the police here in Oman are very helpful and nice! I was served super quickly at the Auqad immigration police: Ahmed corrected the last mistake in my visa in no time and Mazen extended it by a month for OMR 25 (EUR 60). On this occasion I also had my passport notarized - Mazen didn't know exactly what that was, but he confirmed with a stamp that my visa in Oman is valid until April 17, 2024! : )

Das Visum für die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate gestaltete sich etwas schwieriger… Momentan
ist es so, dass viele Staaten für 90 Tage im Jahr ein gratis Visum erhalten.
Meines ist Ende Januar abgelaufen, deshalb benötigte ich jetzt eines für 1
Monat – und die online Preise schwanken
zwischen EUR 100 - 400! Wem kann
man hier vertrauen!? - Ich
fragte Praveen wie er
das machte für seine Eltern und prompt hatte er mir eine nützlichen Kontakt der
es mir in 1 Tag erledigte für AED 400 (EUR 100).
The visa for the United Arab Emirates was a little more difficult... At the moment, many countries receive a free visa for 90 days a year. Mine expired at the end of January, so now I needed one for 1 month - and the online prices vary between EUR 100 - 400! Whom can we trust!? - I asked Praveen how he did it for his parents and he promptly gave me a useful contact, who achieved it for me in 1 day for AED 400 (EUR 100).

Am Montag hatte ich Sehnsucht nach etwas Neuem und
machte eine letzte Tour in die Dhofar Berge von
Salalah. Mein erster Halt war in Ain Garziz: Der Fluss
war zwar ausgetrocknet, aber es floss Wasser in den
Falaj! Besonders
schön fand ich die erodierten Stein-Erde-Wurzel Formationen… : )
On Monday I was longing for something new and took one last tour to the Dhofar Mountains of Salalah. My first stop was in Ain Garziz: The river was dry, but water was flowing into the Falaj! I found the eroded stone-earth-root formations particularly beautiful... : )

Dann ging es weiter bergaufwärts zum Grab von Prophet Ayub und in die Dhofar Bergwelt… mit vielen Kamelen. Eine herrliche kleine Rundtour,
die mich auf der alten Strasse zurück ins grüne Salalah brachte.

Then I continued uphill to the tomb of Prophet Ayub and into the Dhofar mountains… with many camels. A wonderful
little round trip that took me back on the old road to green Salalah.
